Cheyenne Sookoo

Showcased Artist

Cheyenne Sookoo is an 18 year old, self taught artist. She graduated from a Tony Bennett funded art school and completed a photography and image making course at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, which has helped her to sharpen her skills.

Cheyenne has been operating her freelance art business Paints By Chey, and has sold 100+ paintings to date! She has spent over 10,000 hours in her trade and has a passion for her craft. She works with acrylics on cotton stretched canvas, but is not limited to simply paintings. She has supported her fellow entrepreneurs by creating logos that embody their business. Experimenting with new mediums and “canvases”, Cheyenne also creates custom designs on clothing, plays around with photo manipulation, dabbles in photography, and does live event painting. She also had a partnership with the BLICK art materials flagship location in Soho, where she was being featured as their #RISINGARTIST for the month of May. Cheyenne was also featured on Bold Business TV and CBS Morning news.

Being a NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) Alumni, she has studied entrepreneurship and the fundamentals of launching a business at a startup incubator at NYU Steinhardt. Cheyenne also identified a business opportunity, developed and pitched a business plan to a panel of judges, winning her 1st place in the Regional New York Metro Entrepreneurship Challenge, and top 12 semi-finalist in the National Youth Entrepreneurship Competition.
